New financial year 2022-23 brought several updates in the working holiday (417 and 462) visa programs.
The following changes are in place from 01 July 2022:
- 30 per cent cap increase to the number of places available to working holiday makers from countries with which Australia has a capped Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa arrangement for FY 2022-23.
- Additional 1,400 places will be available each year through reciprocal increases to visa caps for Hungary, Austria and the Slovak Republic.
- the age limit for Italian and Danish citizens applying for 417 visa will increase by five years – from 30 to 35 years of age from 01 July 2022. This ads couple more countries to previously announced France, Canada and Ireland whose citizens are able to access higher age limit.
- Brazil and Mongolia will have access to work and holiday maker arrangement from 01 July 2022 with 200 places for young Mongolians and 500 for Brazilians.
- India will also get access to 462 program in the next two years for up to 1000 young Indian citizens.
- New option to use paid or volunteer flood recovery work undertaken from 01 January 2022 in flood affected areas for the purpose of applying for a second or third WHM visa.
