VIC and QLD – State Nomination updates

As the states have received their interim allocation of nomination places for 2022-2023 program year, they are releasing their requirements for 190/491 Nominations.


Victoria:

- Nominated occupation must be on the combined skilled occupation list, but there is no specific list for the state;

- Registration of Interest must be submitted and selected to apply for nomination;

- If living onshore, the applicant must reside in Victoria;

- annual earnings from skilled employment in Victoria will be considered in ROI;

- following occupations will be prioritised:

o Health care and social services

o Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

o Advanced manufacturing, digital and innovation economy

o Chef, cook, accommodation and hospitality managers – for the 491 visa

o Early childhood, secondary and special education teachers.


Those who submitted a ROI during the 2021-22 program, must submit a new ROI to be selected to apply for the 2022-23 program.


Queensland:

- Nominated occupation must be on the combined skilled occupation list, but there is no specific list for the state for onshore applicants;

- Invitation to apply for QLD Nomination is required and they will be issued based on applicant’s EOI;

- For 190 visa Nomination points score of 80 points or higher is required as well as proficient English (apart from trade occupations, which require competent English);

- Evidence of 6 months of living and working full time in QLD in the nominated occupation prior to EOI submission is required for 190 visa; whereas 3 months is sufficient for 491 visa (regional QLD);

- Evidence of ongoing full-time employment for at lest further 12 months for QLD employer is required, which must be regional for 491 visa;

- Caveats apply to selected occupations such as Accountants, Auditors, Cooks/Chefs

- Specific occupation list and requirements apply to skilled offshore applicant, in demand are Engineering, IT and medical occupations and several trade professions

- Pathway for graduates from QLD Universities is also available


Migration QLD will only accept new EOIs submitted on or after 16 August 2022.
