NSW Nomination criteria for SC 190 visas

NSW government has recently published their state nomination requirements for SC 190 Skilled Nominated visas for FY 2023-24.

Apart from the general skilled visa criteria such as having an occupation on the eligible skilled occupations list; a valid skills assessment for the nominated occupation and score of minimum 65 points on the points test, those who want to be considered for NSW Nomination must demonstrate their residency, as follows:

Applicants must be either currently residing:

- in NSW and have continuously resided in NSW for a minimum period of six months; or

- offshore and have continuously resided offshore for a minimum period of six months.

For this program year, NSW is moving away from their occupations list and instead will be using a concept of target sectors.

The NSW target sectors are specific industry sectors that have been identified by data research as having critical skills shortages in NSW. They include:

  • Health

  • Education

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

  • Infrastructure

  • Agriculture

Although all validly submitted SkillSelect EOIs will be considered during an invitation round, priority will be given to EOIs in these target sectors.
