The Australian government has published a new legislative instrument which provides concessions for 457/482 visa holders whose work was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The periods of reduced work hours or unpaid leave due to the coronavirus during the „concession period“ – from 01 February 2020, are now recognised for the purpose of SC 186 applications as time worked full-time. This is great news for 457/482 holders whose employers were affected, as it provides for their continued eligibility to apply for permanent residence.
The new instrument applies in relation to SC 186 TRT applications made after 01 February 2020 and before 24 November 2020 and not decided, or all applications made after 24 November 2020.
