Increased age limit for Canadian working holiday makers announced

On 28 August 2018, Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton and Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussen announced an agreement between Australia and Canada to increase the age limit for programs concerning Youth Mobility.

The amended memorandum between the countries will enable young adults from Canada aged 18-35 to participate in the working holiday program in Australia.

Canada is the first country for which the increased age limit was announced.

For other countries the maximum age remains to be 30 years, until Governments of both countries agree to amend it. Legislation reflecting the announcement is yet to be released.
